Vitor Belfort lost to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in the co-main event of UFC 198. Following the fight, Belfort took to Facebook to comment on the fight:

“Saturday was a day that I went to work but didn’t work. Have you ever had that feeling? I learned through my life that we can’t stop learning, and the lesson I take from my fight Saturday is: don’t wait too much for the moment because if it doesn’t come and you don’t go for it, nothing will happen. I didn’t in my fight, I was focused in the defense and lost my main quality: the attack. If I could leave my learning here to you, that cost me a bitter defeat, is don’t wait for the moment to come, but go after it with the confident that you will conquer it. Merits to my opponent.”

Belfort (25-12) is on a one-fight losing streak. In his last six bouts, he is 4-2. He beat Michael Bisping in January of 2013 by second-round TKO, a first round heel kick knockout of Luke Rockhold in May of 2013 and then a first round head kick of Dan Henderson in November of 2013. He was finished in the first-round by Chris Weidman in their title fight at UFC 187. He finished Dan Henderson at UFC Fight Night 77 by first round KO. He lost to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza at UFC 198 by first round TKO.

UFC 198 took place on May 14th at the 40,000-seat Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil.
