Jared Rosholt earns decision victory at UFC 193

Opening the main card on PPV for UFC 193 was Stefan Struve (26-8) vs. Jared Rosholt (14-2) in a heavyweight bout. A sluggish fight that saw Rosholt continue to land takedowns on the big man and did some good damage while there. Struve tried his best when he was on his feet with kicks and strikes, but nothing that stood out. In the end, the judges gave the nod to by unanimous decision.

UFC 193 took place on November 14, 2015 (in the U.S) from Melbourne, Australia at Etihad Stadium.

Struve is currently on a one-fight losing streak. In his last six bouts, he’s 3-3. He beat Lavar Johnson at UFC 146 by first-round armbar and then knocked out Stipe Miocic in September of 2012 by second-round TKO. He lost to Mark Hunt in March of 2013 by third-round TKO and then lost to Alistair Overeem in December of 2014 by first-round knockout. He beat Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 190 by unanimous decision. He lost to Jared Rosholt by unanimous decision at UFC 193.

He beat Daniel Omielanczuk at UFC Fight Night 39 by unanimous decision and then Soa Palelei at UFC Fight Night 43 the same way. He lost to Alexey Oleinik at UFC Fight Night 57 by first-round KO but rebounded with two straight wins. He beat Josh Copeland at UFC 185 by third-round TKO and then Timothy Johnson at UFC Fight Night 73 by unanimous decision. He beat Stefan Struve by unanimous decision at UFC 193.

Here is the play-by-play result of this fight:

Round 1: Rosholt bum rushed him early and missed a wild right hand. Rosholt took him down and got into side control where he worked him over with elbows. The round ended with Rosholt in full control of Struve while on top.

Round 2: Struve presses the action in this round as he is the more aggressive fighter. Rosholt with a single leg takedown that resulted in him getting side control where he continued to apply his will on Struve. The round ended with Struve landing a series of elbows to the top of Rosholt’s head.

Round 3: At this point in the fight, Struve is using his range and is landing a long jab that Rosholt continues to eat. Rosholt attempts to counter this as he clinches with the big man on the fence, but after a few seconds of nothing happening separates from him. Struve landed a big right hand followed by a knee to the face. Rosholt was back peddling, but found and opening and got the double leg takedown with one minute remaining. This did not last long as Struve made his way to his feet.
