Eddie Alvarez TKO’s Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 90

Rafael dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez met in a lightweight title bout as the main event of UFC Fight Night 90. This one did not last long, and we have a new champion. Alvarez comes out and stuns him with some combos. Anjos tagged him then they went and had a wild exchange. Alvarez went off with strikes, and Anjos was hurt. Alvarez with a flying knee and he fell down. Alvarez took him down and landed some hammer fists. Anjos stood up, and Alvarez tagged him several times until the fight was stopped.

Anjos (25-8) is currently on a one-fight losing streak. In his last six bouts, he’s 5-1. He beat Jason High at UFC Fight Night 42 by second round TKO, Benson Henderson at UFC Fight Night 49 by first round KO, Nate Diaz at UFC on FOX 13 by unanimous decision, and Anthony Pettis at UFC 185 by unanimous decision. He beat Donald Cerrone by first-round TKO at UFC on FOX 17. He lost to Eddie Alvarez at UFC Fight Night 90 by first round TKO.

Alvarez (28-4) is currently on a three-fight winning streak. In his last six bouts, he’s 5-1. He scored a first-round knockout of Patricky Freire in October of 2012 and then a split decision win over Michael Chandler in November of 2013. All of those fights were under the Bellator MMA banner. He joined the UFC in September of 2014 but lost his debut fight against Donald Cerrone at UFC 178 by unanimous decision. He beat Gilbert Melendez at UFC 188 by split decision. He beat Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 81. He lost to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 90 by first round TKO.

UFC Fight Night 90 took place from Las Vegas, Nevada on July 7th and the event aired on UFC Fight Pass.
