Former UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz has been fully cleared to start training and will be fighting current Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw in 2016.

Cruz, who has been out since September 2014 with a torn ACL, was on top of the division until 2011, where he suffered his first torn ACl. Cruz stated in a recent interview that he cleaned house the division prior to his injury.

“I really cleaned out the division well,” said Cruz. For me, it’s not a big deal to come back. It’s the same division, essentially, that I already cleaned out.”

“I understand what is going on in the cage. If I couldn’t talk about it, and explain to people, if I were like TJ and Duane — idiots — then I would’ve been written off a long time ago. They say they are going to knock me out. Come on. Who has come close to knocking me out? I’ve got an 80% striking defense. You’re not knocking me out. What are you talking about?”

The fight takes place on January 17th, which will air on Fox Sports 1.
