Roy Nelson and Derrick Lewis met in a heavyweight bout as the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 90. Well, it wasn’t a first round KO, but it was a solid fight. In round 1, Lewis opens up with a hard body kick to start the round. Nelson missed a wild shot and Lewis clinches with him. Nelson pressed him up against the fence. The fans boo at the lack of action in the early going. They were separated. Lewis threw some head kick, and that hurt Nelson. Nelson clinched and took him down. Nelson got half guard and landed some elbows. Lewis got to his feet, landed a big knee to the body and then swarmed him with strikes up against the fence. Nelson clinches with him up against the fence. They were separated again. Nelson has a huge bruise on his stomach. Lewis worked the body and landed a head kick. Lewis had landed some big uppercuts before Nelson took him down to end the round.

In round 2, Nelson came out and clinches with him again midway through the round. Nelson took him down, but Lewis got back to his feet. Nelson stays on him in the clinch. Nelson took him down with 30-seconds to go. Lewis got to his feet and landed some right hands to end the round.

In round 3, Lewis landed a good knee to the body to open the round. Nelson clinched again and put him on the fence. Nelson scored another takedown midway through the round and landed in half guard. Lewis got to his feet and clinched. They exchanged to end the round. Lewis grabbed the split decision victory.
