Former UFC middleweight champion Dan Henderson continues to say that his fight with Michael Bisping at UFC 204 for the middleweight title will be his last fight because he will retire after the fight.

“I’ve said that, win or lose, that this is my last fight, and I’m very stuck on that,” Henderson said at Friday’s UFC 204 news conference. “I have no desire to go on afterward. Win or lose – obviously I would like to finish with that belt. That would be an ideal ending for me but I’m ready.”

“Physically, I feel like I can keep going for another couple years,” Henderson said. “But it does tax on you mentally as you get older. As I’ve gotten older, it’s been tougher to get though training camp as healthy as I want. It’s time. I would like to spend a little more time with my family and kids and not miss as much stuff because I’m having to train or off doing a fight somewhere. I’ve loved this sport for a long time, and I’ve been blessed to have a career as long as I have.”

“This has never been anything personal,” Henderson said. “The first time we fought – it’s all about the sport, winning and the belt for me. So, honestly, it’s never been anything personal. I’ve always respected him, he’s a great fighter, and he’s stuck in there pretty well over the years and kept at it and improved. It’s just all the other talking that I’m not a fan of.”

UFC 204 takes place October 8 in Manchester, England. The main card will air on PPV while the prelims will air on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
