Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez to headline UFC 205


UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will attempt to add the lightweight title to his collection when he challenges Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205.

McGregor (20-3) is currently on a one-fight winning streak. In his last six bouts, he scored a first-round TKO finish of Dustin Poirier at UFC 178 then a second-round TKO win over Dennis Siver in January of 2013. He finished Chad Mendes in the second round at UFC 189. He beat Jose Aldo by first-round knockout at UFC 194. He lost to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 by second round submission and then beat Nate Diaz at UFC 202 by decision.

Alvarez (28-4) is currently on a three-fight winning streak. In his last six bouts, he’s 5-1. He scored a first-round knockout of Patricky Freire in October of 2012 and then a split decision win over Michael Chandler in November of 2013. All of those fights were under the Bellator MMA banner. He joined the UFC in September of 2014 but lost his debut fight against Donald Cerrone at UFC 178 by unanimous decision. He beat Gilbert Melendez at UFC 188 by split decision. He beat Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 81. He lost to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 90 by first round TKO.

UFC 205 will take place at Madison Square Garden on November 12th with the main card airing on PPV and the prelims airing on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. The UFC has yet to announce the main event. Here is the updated card for the event:
